Srinagar, Oct 11 (KNO): Grand Mufti of Jammu and Kashmir Mufti Nasir-ul-Islam Farooqi has backed Mirwaiz Kashmir Dr Umar Farooq’s religious guidance on faith, stressing the need to focus on moral education and character-building alongside strengthening faith.
In a statement issued to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), a spokesperson said the Grand Mufti emphasised that good character is the practical manifestation of a person’s faith and that its true spirit cannot be fully reflected without good morals.
He stressed the urgent need to promote brotherhood, tolerance, respect for humanity, honesty and mutual respect in society.
The spokesperson said the Grand Mufti also emphasised that the message of moral reform should be conveyed from the pulpit alongside efforts to strengthen faith to help build a righteous, peaceful and morally upright society.—(KNO)
